US Insurance Eligibility Specialist

Overview

The Insurance Eligibility Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to the delivery of the client's telehealth and VR therapy services. This role ensures a smooth onboarding experience for patients while supporting clean claim submission and minimizing billing delays.

Schedule:

  • Full-time | 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday 9 AM–6 PM EST

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for DME and telehealth therapy services prior to enrollment.
  • Contact insurance carriers via phone, portal, or EDI to confirm coverage, deductibles, copays, and authorization requirements.
  • Accurately document verification results in the CRM and EMR/HER.
  • Coordinate with the billing and clinical teams to flag coverage gaps or prior authorization needs.
  • Communicate eligibility findings to patients and internal stakeholders clearly and timely manner
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies relevant to telehealth and durable medical equipment (DME) or digital therapeutics.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or a healthcare administrative role
  • Basic understanding of insurance terminology (EOB, COB, deductibles, out-of-pocket, prior auth)
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and payer portals
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
