Job Overview

You will serve as the remote drafting specialist at the heart of our client's production pipeline — translating design intent into machine-ready fabrication drawings that go straight to the shop floor. Working from the client's established MicroVellum library, you will produce precise cabinet and metal fabrication drawings, optimise nesting layouts to reduce material waste, and convert files into the formats needed to drive water jet cutting operations. When issues arise on the floor, you will respond quickly with revised drawings to keep production moving. This is a technically focused, high-ownership role where your accuracy and responsiveness have a direct and visible impact on output quality and efficiency.

A growing Australian business specialising in metal fabrication and custom cabinet making, serving clients who demand precision-cut components and bespoke joinery solutions. The company operates a sophisticated production floor equipped with water jet cutting machinery and CNC capabilities, supported by a proprietary MicroVellum drawing library built around their exact workflows. With a strong commitment to craftsmanship and technical accuracy, the team is expanding its remote drafting capacity to meet increasing production demand.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, flexible during business hours, AEST (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate fabrication and cabinet making drawings using MicroVellum and the client's established custom library
• Prepare and nest drawings for water jet cutting to maximize material usage and minimize waste
• Transfer completed MicroVellum drawings into AutoCAD format for compatibility with the Flow water jet program
• Revise and update drawings promptly when cutting issues arise on the shop floor
• Ensure all drawings meet machine-ready specifications before release to production

Requirements

• Proficiency in MicroVellum (required), including working with pre-built libraries
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for file conversion and output
• Experience with nesting processes for CNC or water jet cutting machines
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drafting
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Bonus if you have prior experience with the Flow water jet cutting software or similar CAM/cutting programs
• It helps if you have a background in furniture, joinery, or custom cabinetry drafting
• Familiarity with Australian fabrication or construction standards is an advantage
