Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with knowledge of Australian electrical projects to perform quantity takeoffs, interpret technical drawings and specifications, coordinate supplier pricing, and prepare preliminary estimates for management review. The ideal candidate is proficient in GroundPlan and Simpro, has strong attention to detail, and can independently progress estimates from initial takeoffs to review-ready pricing packages while meeting tender deadlines.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, Flexible during client business hours, NSW (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical quantity takeoffs from project drawings using GroundPlan.
• Accurately enter takeoff quantities and estimating data into Simpro.
• Review electrical drawings, plans, schedules, and detailed specifications to identify required materials and systems.
• Interpret Australian electrical standards and project requirements.
• Prepare and send supplier requests for quotations (RFQs), including relevant drawings, specifications, and quantities.
• Follow up with suppliers to obtain and verify material pricing.
• Compile preliminary pricing packages for management review.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, scope gaps, and outstanding quotations.
• Prepare estimating summaries and video walkthroughs explaining quantities, pricing, and assumptions.
• Maintain organized job folders and follow established estimating procedures and templates.
• Manage estimating tasks independently and meet tender submission deadlines.

Requirements

• Proven experience in electrical estimating and quantity takeoffs.
• Proficiency in GroundPlan and Simpro.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, plans, schedules, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and construction practices.
• Experience coordinating supplier quotations and material pricing.
• Strong written English communication and documentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
