Job Overview 

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Residential CAD Drafter who understands residential construction, interior architectural detailing, millwork, elevations, and sections — not simply CAD software. The Drafter will work directly with the principal designer to transform design concepts, selections, and 3D renderings into precise, builder-ready construction drawings.

Client Overview

Our client is a residential interior design firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, specializing in high-end custom residential projects. The firm works closely with clients, builders, and contractors throughout multi-year custom home projects, from concept development and 3D visualization through detailed construction documentation. The firm is preparing for a major residential project scheduled to break ground in approximately 30 days and our client is looking for an experienced CAD Drafter to take ownership of the technical drawing and documentation process.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D interior elevation drawings for custom residential projects
• Create accurate cut sections for bathroom vanities, fireplaces, built-ins, cabinetry, millwork, and other architectural details
• Translate 3D renderings, design concepts, and selections into accurate technical construction drawings
• Develop detailed drawings that builders, contractors, and trades can use for construction
• Interpret architectural and interior design intent and convert it into precise CAD documentation
• Coordinate directly with the principal designer to clarify requirements and resolve drawing issues
• Revise drawings based on designer, builder, and contractor feedback
• Ensure drawings are accurate, consistent, and aligned with project specifications
• Maintain organized CAD files, drawing sets, revisions, and project documentation
• Support pre-construction documentation for upcoming projects
• Manage multiple drawing requirements and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy
• Adapt to evolving project requirements as the design practice grows

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional CAD drafting experience (preferred)
• Proven experience working directly with custom home builders, high-end residential builders, residential architects, or luxury residential design firms (non-negotiable)
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-end residential drafting and construction documentation
• Experience detailing millwork, cabinetry, built-ins, bathroom vanities, fireplaces, and custom architectural features
  
• Proven ability to create detailed 2D elevations and cut sections
• Ability to interpret 3D renderings and design intent and convert them into accurate technical drawings
• Strong proficiency in relevant CAD software
• Strong understanding or background of residential construction and interior architectural detailing
• Excellent attention to detail and dimensional accuracy

Qualifications

• High-end or luxury custom home project experience
• Experience with construction documentation and permit/construction drawing packages
• Experience working with U.S.-based residential design or construction firms
• Familiarity with residential materials, finishes, dimensions, and construction methods
