Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Architectural Drafter – Australian Residential (Revit) to join a dynamic residential construction company delivering quality projects. In this role, you will prepare, revise, and coordinate accurate, construction-ready documentation for single- and double-storey builds using Autodesk Revit, turning concepts and specifications into detailed design sets alongside builders, architects, and engineers.
We seek candidates who offer far more than software proficiency, bringing a practical understanding of real-world construction to spot constructability issues, inconsistencies, and compliance concerns before plans are issued. Prior experience with Australian residential standards, setbacks, covenant requirements, exterior finishes, and landscaping guidelines will be highly regarded.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM AEST, with one hour unpaid break
Responsibilities
Architectural Drafting, Documentation & BIM
- Prepare, develop, and maintain accurate, construction-ready architectural documentation—including floor plans, elevations, sections, site plans, roof plans, reflected ceiling plans, and details—for single- and double-storey residential projects, renovations, and custom homes using Autodesk Revit.
- Create, modify, and manage clean BIM models, Revit families, project structures, views, levels, sheets, and annotations, ensuring model revisions reflect consistently across all drawing sets, schedules, and details.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from clients, builders, architects, engineers, and project managers while maintaining complete documentation accuracy and consistency.
Construction Documentation & Quality Control
- Translate architectural concepts into precise working drawings, applying a practical understanding of residential construction methods (foundations, walls, framing, roof structures, joinery, finishes, and wet areas).
- Coordinate architectural documentation with structural and engineering inputs, verifying dimensions, levels, schedules, and references to resolve discrepancies prior to issue.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks on all drawing sets to eliminate errors, omissions, and constructability issues, preventing potential field variations or project delays.
Site Plans, Covenant Compliance & External Design
- Prepare and update residential site plans, accurately documenting property boundaries, setbacks, building envelopes, driveways, pathways, and outdoor structures against site constraints.
- Review and incorporate covenant requirements into designs, ensuring building placement, setbacks, landscaping, and exterior elements satisfy all approvals.
- Document approved exterior finishes, façade treatments, roof styles, wall colors, and material schedules in compliance with covenant guidelines and project specifications.
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
- Work directly with remote Australian clients, builders, designers, and consultants to clarify project requirements and resolve ambiguous design information.
- Communicate potential design, compliance, or constructability issues proactively, providing regular progress updates while managing assigned projects independently.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as an Architectural Drafter, Architectural Technician, Building Designer, or similar role.
- Demonstrated professional experience working on residential housing projects, with proven experience in both single-storey and double-storey residential builds.
- Strong and demonstrable Autodesk Revit experience in producing detailed architectural and construction documentation sets.
- Strong understanding of residential construction principles.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, sketches, specifications, and design concepts to identify drafting and constructability issues.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and apply strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to work effectively with an Australian client remotely.
Highly Desirable
- Proven background working with Australian builders, architects, and building designers, with strong familiarity with Australian residential construction documentation, building standards, and drawing codes.
- Hands-on experience interpreting covenant requirements, documenting setbacks and site constraints, preparing exterior color and material schedules, and coordinating residential landscaping plans.
- Demonstrated experience handling custom homes, project developments, or renovations, with expertise in structural engineering coordination and Revit family creation.
Technical Skills
- Essential: Autodesk Revit, Architectural Drafting, BIM / 3D Modeling, Construction Documentation (Floor Plans, Elevations, Sections, Site Plans, Roof Plans, Detailing, Setbacks).
- Advantageous: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Bluebeam / Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft 365.
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating hands-on residential drafting experience, with work samples clearly highlighting individual personal contributions rather than general team output. The portfolio should ideally include:
- Single-storey residential projects.
- Double-storey residential projects.
- Revit-based residential documentation.
- Floor plans, elevations, sections, site plans, roof plans, and construction details.
- External colour/material documentation and landscaping/site documentation, where applicable.
- Complete or representative residential drawing sets.

- Health Insurance Coverage for eligible locations
