Overview
Our client is looking for a Project Cost Coordinator (Construction Industry) to oversee and monitor the financial progress and status of assigned projects. In this role, you will manage billing and invoicing, track budget variations, and clearly communicate key financial insights to management. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project accountant or cost controller to directly influence project margins and cash flow.
Schedule:
- 4 hours/day initially. Will ramp up to full-time within 3-6 months.
Responsibilities
- Set up project accounts for all projects within the client’s accounting system.
- Maintain project financial documentation — contracts, change orders and cost records.
- Authorize and process the transfer of expenses into and out of projects.
- Review supplier invoices, overhead allocations and timesheets charged to each project.
- Investigate and analyze project variations and change orders, and issue reports to management as needed.
- Identify opportunities for additional billings and report remaining budget and funds by project.
- Analyze project expenses not yet invoiced to the client and expedite recovery.
- Report project profitability and cash position to management.
- Compile information and data for internal and external auditors, and respond promptly to client requests for information.
- Close out all project accounts on completion of a project.
- Support the client’s Health & Safety Program and quality requirements in all cost-control activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a cost controller or project accountant, ideally in construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and project accounting/ERP software.
- Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders and progress billing.
- Working familiarity with Claude AI would be an asset
