Compliance Manager - UK CQC & Healthcare

Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Compliance Manager - UK CQC & Healthcare to work on a part-time basis for a CQC-approved home care agency operating across England and Wales. In this hands-on role, you will help maintain and strengthen the company's compliance framework to ensure operational practices align with CQC requirements, UK legislation, and internal quality standards. This opportunity is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can work independently to conduct audits, manage documentation, and support inspection readiness. By ensuring strict regulatory alignment, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, high-quality care for elderly individuals and clients with complex needs.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM BST (20 hours per week)

Responsibilities

CQC & Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitor ongoing compliance with relevant CQC regulations, standards, expectations, and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
  • Support the company in maintaining inspection readiness, managing compliance evidence, and tracking legislative updates.

Policies & Procedures

  • Review, update, and maintain practical company policies and compliance documentation to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Identify policy gaps and maintain a structured compliance calendar for reviews, audits, renewals, and regulatory requirements.

Audits & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular internal audits and spot checks across care documentation, staff records, and risk assessments.
  • Identify non-conformities, evaluate compliance risks, and track corrective action plans through to completion.

Staff Compliance

  • Monitor staff documentation to ensure mandatory training, qualifications, DBS checks, and right-to-work files are up to date.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and mitigate compliance risks relating to recruitment, onboarding, and deployment.

Care & Safeguarding Compliance

  • Support the monitoring of safeguarding processes, ensuring appropriate documentation and escalation protocols are followed.
  • Review incidents, complaints, accidents, and safeguarding concerns to identify trends and recommend preventative actions.

Data Protection & Confidentiality

  • Support organizational compliance with UK GDPR, reviewing how confidential client and employee information is managed.
  • Maintain data protection policies, procedures, and records while proactively identifying and escalating potential privacy risks.

Reporting & Management Support

  • Prepare regular compliance reports, dashboards, trackers, and action logs to keep senior management updated on key risks.
  • Assist with preparing official documentation for external audits, Local Authority requirements, and CQC engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Compliance, Quality, Governance, CQC or Care Quality role.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and social care compliance requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection expectations.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and compliance reviews.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and care-sector documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of confidentiality and professional integrity.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working for a domiciliary/home care agency.
  • Experience preparing an organisation for CQC inspections.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection.
  • Experience with care management or HR systems.
  • Experience creating compliance dashboards and audit trackers.
  • Relevant qualification in compliance, quality management, health and social care, governance or a related discipline.
