Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Compliance Manager - UK CQC & Healthcare to work on a part-time basis for a CQC-approved home care agency operating across England and Wales. In this hands-on role, you will help maintain and strengthen the company's compliance framework to ensure operational practices align with CQC requirements, UK legislation, and internal quality standards. This opportunity is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can work independently to conduct audits, manage documentation, and support inspection readiness. By ensuring strict regulatory alignment, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, high-quality care for elderly individuals and clients with complex needs.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM BST (20 hours per week)
Responsibilities
CQC & Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor ongoing compliance with relevant CQC regulations, standards and expectations.
- Maintain a clear understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, relevant regulations and applicable CQC guidance.
- Support company in maintaining readiness for CQC inspections, reviews and information requests.
- Maintain evidence and documentation demonstrating compliance across the organisation.
- Monitor changes to relevant legislation, regulations and regulatory guidance and communicate implications to management.
Policies & Procedures
- Review, update and maintain company policies, procedures and compliance documentation.
- Ensure policies are practical, current and consistently implemented.
- Identify gaps in existing policies and recommend improvements.
- Maintain a structured compliance calendar for policy reviews, audits, renewals and regulatory requirements.
Audits & Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular internal compliance audits and spot checks.
- Review care documentation, staff records, training records, risk assessments and other compliance evidence.
- Identify non-conformities, risks and areas for improvement.
- Develop and monitor corrective and preventative action plans.
- Track outstanding compliance actions through to completion.
Staff Compliance
- Monitor staff compliance documentation, including relevant training, qualifications, checks and mandatory requirements.
- Work with management to ensure staff records remain complete and up to date.
- Support monitoring of DBS checks, references, right-to-work documentation, training and competency records where applicable.
- Identify compliance risks relating to recruitment, onboarding and staff deployment.
Care & Safeguarding Compliance
- Support monitoring of safeguarding processes and reporting requirements.
- Review incidents, complaints, accidents and safeguarding concerns from a compliance perspective.
- Identify trends and recommend preventative actions.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and escalation processes are followed.
Data Protection & Confidentiality
- Support compliance with UK GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Review how confidential client and employee information is stored, accessed and managed.
- Help maintain appropriate data protection policies, procedures and records.
- Identify potential data protection risks and escalate issues appropriately.
Reporting & Management Support
- Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management.
- Maintain compliance dashboards, trackers and action logs.
- Provide clear updates on compliance risks, outstanding actions and areas requiring management attention.
- Assist with preparing documentation for external audits, Local Authority requirements and CQC engagement.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in a Compliance, Quality, Governance, CQC or Care Quality role.
- Strong understanding of UK health and social care compliance requirements.
- Practical knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection expectations.
- Experience conducting internal audits and compliance reviews.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and care-sector documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of confidentiality and professional integrity.
Desirable
- Previous experience working for a domiciliary/home care agency.
- Experience preparing an organisation for CQC inspections.
- Knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection.
- Experience with care management or HR systems.
- Experience creating compliance dashboards and audit trackers.
- Relevant qualification in compliance, quality management, health and social care, governance or a related discipline.
