Overview

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented US Accounting Specialist (QuickBooks and Shopify) to independently oversee bookkeeping and financial reporting functions using QuickBooks. In this role, you will manage day-to-day accounts, handle end-to-end Shopify payment and tax reconciliations, and drive smooth month-end and year-end closing processes. Ideal candidates possess strong expertise in U.S. accounting standards and excel at communicating financial insights clearly to stakeholders. This is a prime opportunity to take full ownership of a growing company's financial integrity in a flexible, remote setting.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 2 fixed hours from 3 pm - 5 pm Pacific Time plus 2 hours of asynchronous work

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records within QuickBooks
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for business review
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure compliance with US financial standards and reporting requirements
• Manage the company's financial records and ensure books are accurate and current
• Support financial decision-making through timely and accurate reporting
• Handle routine bookkeeping functions with minimal oversight
• Ensure all transactions are properly categorized and documented

Requirements

• Senior account or Financial controller-level a plus
  
• Must have at least 3 years of experience in U.S. accounting.
• Experience with Shopify reconciling Shopify payments to bank deposits, reviewing sales reports, recording fees, and verifying sales tax transactions.
• Able to clearly explain financial information and next steps
• Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks with hands-on experience in a US-based business environment
• Strong understanding of general bookkeeping principles and financial record management
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial data entry and reconciliation
• Experience working with US-based companies and familiarity with US accounting practices
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
