Job Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Architectural Draftsman (AutoCAD & 3D) to join an experienced architectural team in producing construction-ready drawings for residential renovations and extensions. Reporting directly to senior designers, the role involves translating initial design concepts and measured site surveys into precise AutoCAD working drawings and 3D client visualizations. Utilizing an extensive library of over 700 reference projects and established CAD templates, the AutoCAD Draftsman will manage drafting deliverables across multiple concurrent residential projects while adhering to Victorian building standards.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday & Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM AEST (24 work hours per week)

Responsibilities Architectural Drafting & Technical Documentation:

• Produce accurate, detailed architectural drawings and construction documentation for residential renovations and extensions using AutoCAD.
• Utilize established CAD layer standards, title blocks, and drawing templates derived from 700+ past project references.
• Execute drawing revisions and detailing updates based on client feedback, council markups, and design team direction.
• Ensure consistent drafting quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with residential building codes across all project files.

3D Visualization & Team Collaboration:

• Develop 3D renderings and spatial visualizations for client design presentations, approval reviews, and social media marketing assets.
• Manage multi-project drafting queues independently to meet firm design milestones and submission deadlines.
• Communicate regularly with Victorian-based designers to clarify structural intent, material specifications, and construction details.
• Maintain organized digital project archives and drawing transmission logs within cloud document repositories.

Requirements

• Residential Architectural Drafting Experience: 2+ years of professional drafting experience specifically focused on residential architecture, home renovations, and structural extensions.
• AutoCAD & 3D Rendering Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of 2D AutoCAD drafting workflows paired with hands-on skill in 3D architectural rendering tools.
• Australian Building Standards Familiarity: Understanding of residential construction methods, timber framing concepts, and Australian building documentation standards.
• Autonomous Execution: High self-motivation with the ability to leverage past project templates and execute drafting packages with minimal oversight.
