Job Overview
You will provide critical paralegal support for real estate transactions, working hand-in-hand with a seasoned legal assistant to manage bank files, prepare closing documents, and review title reports. This role demands speed, precision, and strong numerical skills as you handle multiple transactions simultaneously in a high-volume practice. You will take ownership of preparing settlement statements, coordinating with lenders, and ensuring every closing file is accurate and complete.
Client Overview
Our client is a growing US-based real estate law practice specializing in residential property transactions. The firm handles a high volume of closings and bank files in a fast-paced environment, serving clients throughout New York state. The practice is expanding its remote team to support increasing transaction volume.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, with 1 hour unpaid/paid break (40 work hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review settlement statements and financial calculations for bank files and lender closings
- Review title reports and identify property issues, liens, and requirements for residential transactions
- Assist with scheduling closings and coordinating with clients, lenders, and title companies
- Draft and prepare real estate transaction documents including contracts, closing disclosures, and amendments
- Communicate with banks and lenders to obtain file requirements and closing instructions
- Maintain organized digital files and track transaction deadlines across multiple concurrent closings
- Perform accurate mathematical calculations for prorations, adjustments, and settlement figures
- Respond quickly to time-sensitive requests and adapt to the fast-paced nature of New York real estate
- Support the legal assistant with client follow-ups and transaction coordination as needed
Requirements
- Proven paralegal experience in real estate transactions
- Strong mathematical skills with accuracy in addition, subtraction, and financial calculations
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy for document preparation
- Ability to work quickly and think fast in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple files simultaneously
Nice to have:
- Experience with New York state real estate transactions, particularly co-op properties (Bonus)
- Prior experience as a transaction coordinator in real estate (Preferred)
- Familiarity with New York closing procedures and documentation requirements (Bonus)
