Join a rapidly growing electrical contracting company as a key member of their estimation team. Our client is looking for an Electrical Estimator to play a crucial role in scaling operations by handling takeoffs, preparing accurate cost estimates, and contributing to the tendering process for diverse projects ranging from $400,000 to $2 million. This exciting opportunity allows you to work with cutting-edge software while respecting proven estimation methods. Your work will directly impact the company’s growth as they expand into larger commercial, educational, and industrial projects.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sydney time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical takeoffs using Ground Plan software for commercial and industrial projects
• Create detailed cost estimates using established spreadsheet templates and transfer data to Simpro
• Prepare and submit professional tender documentation for construction projects (processing 5-10 new tender opportunities per week)
• Coordinate with lighting designers and other contractors for specialized component pricing
• Manage multiple concurrent tender opportunities while meeting submission deadlines
• Document, standardize, and optimize estimation processes to support company growth
• Communicate effectively with the management team using Microsoft Teams
• Adapt to and improve the company’s established estimation methods
• Support the transition from smaller retail/strata projects to larger, more complex ones (up to $2 million, including schools and storage facilities)
• Support estimation needs for a growing electrical contracting team expanding from 8 to 15 full-time staff

Requirements:

• Electrical engineering background or relevant electrical estimation experience
• Proficiency in takeoff software (Ground Plan) and advanced Excel skills
• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods and materials
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Teams for daily communication and collaboration
