HR Generalist (U.S. & Compliance)

Job Overview 

Our client is looking for an experienced HR Generalist to support the company's day-to-day HR operations, recruitment, employee administration, and compliance. The ideal candidate should have practical experience working with US-based employees and a good understanding of US employment practices and HR compliance requirements.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM EST (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Manage job postings, source and screen candidates, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate the recruitment process.
  • Prepare offer letters and support pre-employment requirements, background checks, and employment verification.
  • Manage employee onboarding, HR system setup, documentation, and personnel records.
  • Support payroll, benefits administration, leave/PTO tracking, and employee status changes.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, and employee handbook provisions.
  • Support employee relations, performance management, disciplinary documentation, and employee separations/offboarding.
  • Monitor U.S. employment-law and regulatory requirements and help maintain compliance with applicable wage-and-hour, I-9, E-Verify, leave, recordkeeping, and workplace requirements.

Requirements

  • Previous HR experience supporting a U.S.-based company or workforce.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. recruitment, employment practices, and HR compliance.
  • Experience with onboarding, payroll administration, benefits, leave management, and HR documentation.
  • Familiarity with I-9, E-Verify, employee classification, wage-and-hour requirements, and personnel recordkeeping.
  • Experience handling employee relations, performance concerns, and confidential HR matters professionally.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to draft HR communications, policies, and employee documentation.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, independent, and proactive in identifying HR risks and escalating complex compliance or employment-law matters when appropriate.
