Overview:

Our client is a Sydney-based interior design studio specializing in both interior design and interior decorating services. They handle a growing portfolio of design projects that require extensive drafting, documentation, and joinery detailing. The team values practical expertise and initiative in bringing design concepts to life through precise technical drawings.

They are looking for a Joinery Draftsperson (Interior Design & Technical Detailing) to be the technical backbone of their design team, transforming high-level sketches and concepts into detailed, buildable joinery elevations and documentation. Working closely with the senior designer, you will take ownership of the drafting process for multiple projects, ensuring that every detail is practical, constructable, and ready for fabrication.

This role gives you the opportunity to use your technical knowledge and initiative to flag potential issues, suggest practical solutions, and ensure that what looks beautiful on paper can actually be built in the real world.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM AEST (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed joinery elevations for residential design projects
• Prepare finish schedules and documentation templates for the design team to populate
• Review design concepts for constructability and flag potential issues before fabrication
• Recommend appropriate hardware, hinges, and construction methods based on technical knowledge
• Identify conflicts such as bulkheads, structural elements, or spatial constraints during the drafting phase
• Collaborate with the senior designer to refine drawings and ensure alignment with project vision
• Ensure all technical drawings are accurate, detailed, and ready for joiner shop drawings
• Work independently on smaller projects such as bathroom renovations and kitchen elevations

Must-Have Requirements:

• Proven experience creating joinery elevations and technical drawings for interior design projects
• Strong practical knowledge of joinery construction, hardware, and fabrication methods
• Ability to identify constructability issues and propose solutions proactively
• Proficiency in drafting software such as Rayvn, SketchUp, or Design Files
• Minimum mid-level experience in interior design drafting or architectural detailing
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical documentation
• Reliable availability and consistent work quality over time

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

• Experience working directly with joiners or fabricators in previous roles
• Experience managing multiple small-to-medium-sized design projects simultaneously
