AI-Assisted Software & Technical Operations Specialist

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy problem solver to serve as an AI-Assisted Software & Technical Operations Specialist. This unique hybrid role combines day-to-day software maintenance, bug fixing, and light development with hands-on technical operations, system auditing, and data quality management.

In this role, you will leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code) to maintain and improve a custom internal web platform. Beyond development, you will serve as the owner of the platform's daily health—monitoring user workflows, ensuring data accuracy, troubleshooting user-reported issues, and proactively identifying operational bottlenecks. Technical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, extreme attention to detail, and a self-starter mindset are valued above formal credentials.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

Software Development & AI Assistance

  • Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to troubleshoot bugs, write clean code, and build feature enhancements within an existing codebase.
  • Safely manage code updates, version control, database queries, and system deployments using Git and GitHub.
  • Rigorously test and verify software changes before and after deployment to ensure system stability.
  • Investigate technical issues reported by team members to pinpoint root causes and implement fix solutions.

Technical Operations & System Auditing

  • Conduct daily reviews of the platform to identify system errors, incomplete records, duplicate entries, or unusual activity.
  • Audit user compliance to ensure employees and managers are completing required workflows, filling out required fields, and uploading documentation correctly.
  • Manage, upload, organize, and cross-check documents, emails, billing information, and system reports flowing through the platform.
  • Perform routine data entry, database hygiene, and system maintenance tasks.

Process Improvement & Ownership

  • Monitor automated workflows and system reports to ensure third-party integrations and scheduled jobs run as expected.
  • Identify recurring user errors or confusing workflows and evaluate whether solutions require user re-training, operational process adjustments, or software updates.
  • Proactively escalate systemic issues and present actionable recommendations for software improvements.

Requirements:

Technical & AI Skills

  • AI Coding Tools: Direct experience or high comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to write, debug, and understand code, paired with the judgment to review and test AI output manually.
  • Core Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of web development fundamentals, basic SQL/database concepts, APIs/integrations, and Git/GitHub version control.
  • Testing & Debugging: Practical understanding of how to systematically isolate bugs, test edge cases, and safely push updates to production environments.

Operational & Administrative Abilities

  • System Auditing & Administrative Work: Experience conducting system checks, data quality control, administrative tasks, and record organization.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to trace a problem to its source—whether human error, bad data, or a software glitch.
  • Self-Motivated & Proactive: Strong initiative with a track record of identifying gaps or broken processes without waiting for step-by-step direction.
  • Attention to Detail: High standard for accuracy, organization, and thoroughness in data handling and code review.

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring
  • Health Insurance Coverage for eligible locations
