Legal Assistant (UK Immigration Law)

About Our Client

Our client is a highly respected, specialist UK immigration law firm based in Crawley, advising businesses, individuals, and families. Founded and led by a Principal Solicitor with over 25 years of legal experience, the firm prides itself on providing straightforward, jargon-free advice. From helping employers secure sponsor license to assisting families with settlement applications, they guide their clients through complex immigration matters with clarity and care.

Role Overview

Operating as a busy sole-practitioner firm, our client relies heavily on their support staff. Because of this, they are looking for an incredibly reliable, hard-working, and proactive Part-Time Legal Assistant who naturally takes initiative. In this role, you will be the backbone of the practice, assisting with case preparation, client communications, and day-to-day administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional looking for flexible hours and close mentorship from a highly experienced solicitor.

Schedule

  • 20 hours per week, 9am-1pm UK Hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Support: Assist in preparing UK immigration applications, including sponsor licences, work visas, family visas, and settlement applications.
  • Document Management: Draft cover letters, complete Home Office forms, and compile detailed document bundles for submission.
  • Client Communication: Act as the first point of contact for enquiries, schedule consultations, and keep clients updated on their case progress.
  • Information Gathering: Liaise with clients (employers and individuals) to collect necessary documentation and ensure files are complete.
  • Administration & Compliance: Maintain accurate digital files, manage the firm's calendar, and ensure all record-keeping aligns with SRA and Home Office compliance standards.
  • General Office Support: Assist with billing, basic invoicing, and general administrative tasks as needed to keep the practice running smoothly.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Reliability & Strong Work Ethic: Above all, you must be exceptionally dependable and hard-working. As the sole assistant to the Principal Solicitor, your consistency and dedication are critical to the firm's success.
  • Takes Initiative: You must be a proactive self-starter. We are looking for someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do, but anticipates needs and manages their own workload with minimal supervision.
