Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury (PI) Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Case Manager to oversee personal injury cases from intake through settlement and closure. The ideal candidate is highly organized, client-focused, knowledgeable in personal injury claims, and capable of managing a high-volume caseload while providing exceptional customer service.
This position requires a strong understanding of the medical treatment process, insurance claims handling, demand preparation, settlement negotiations, and case management systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Case Management
- Manage a caseload of personal injury motor vehicle accident cases from onboarding through settlement and closure.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide timely case updates.
- Ensure all case milestones and deadlines are met.
- Document all case activity through detailed time entries and case notes.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files.
Letters of Representation (LOR)
- Prepare and send Letters of Representation to insurance carriers.
- Open bodily injury and property damage claims.
- Verify claim numbers, adjuster information, and insurance coverage.
- Request declarations pages and policy information.
Medical Treatment Coordination
- Understand and monitor the client's medical treatment progression, including:
- Emergency Room (ER)
- Urgent Care
- Chiropractic Treatment
- Physical Therapy (PT)
- Orthopedic Care
- Neurological Care
- Pain Management
- Diagnostic Imaging (MRI, CT, X-Ray)
- Surgical Recommendations
- Identify treatment gaps and communicate with clients regarding the importance of consistent treatment.
- Coordinate referrals to medical providers when appropriate.
- Review medical records and billing for completeness.
Records and Documentation
- Order and obtain:
- Police Reports
- Crash Reports
- Medical Records
- Medical Bills
- Health Insurance Information
- Wage Loss Documentation
- Witness Statements
- Photographs and Video Evidence
- Review records for accuracy and identify missing information.
Demand Preparation
- Draft comprehensive settlement demand packages.
- Prepare detailed liability summaries.
- Prepare medical treatment summaries.
- Analyze medical records and billing.
- Calculate special damages and supporting documentation.
- Assemble exhibits and supporting evidence for submission to insurance carriers.
Settlement Negotiations
- Communicate directly with insurance adjusters.
- Negotiate bodily injury settlements.
- Evaluate settlement offers and provide recommendations to supervising attorneys.
- Track negotiations and maintain negotiation logs.
- Escalate complex negotiations to attorneys when necessary.
Client Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the life of the case.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries.
- Build strong client relationships and maintain client satisfaction.
- Conduct client check-ins and status updates.
- Assist clients in understanding the claims process.
Case Resolution and Closing
- Coordinate settlement documentation.
- Review settlement statements with clients.
- Assist with lien and medical bill reduction efforts.
- Ensure all settlement funds are properly disbursed.
- Prepare case closing documentation.
- Obtain client reviews and testimonials when appropriate.
- Complete file closure procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of Personal Injury Case Management experience.
- Experience handling Motor Vehicle Accident cases.
- Strong knowledge of Georgia personal injury claims highly preferred
- Experience drafting settlement demands.
- Experience negotiating bodily injury claims.
- Experience obtaining and reviewing police reports and medical records.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
Technical Skills
- Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with case management software (MyCase preferred).
- Ability to prepare professional correspondence and legal documents.
- Strong data entry and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a plaintiff's personal injury law firm.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of insurance coverages including:
- Liability
- UM/UIM
- MedPay
- Health Insurance Liens
- Medicare/Medicaid Liens
- Experience with demand valuation and settlement strategy.
