CPA Accountant (Xero - AU Market)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking an organized, detail-oriented CPA Accountant to handle day-to-day bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, fortnightly payroll, and month-end financial reconciliations across a multi-entity group. Working directly alongside the General Manager and operations team, the successful candidate will ensure accurate ledger maintenance inside Xero, draft monthly BAS/PAYG lodgements, maintain fixed asset registers, and assist with cash flow reporting. This role is ideal for an Australian-focused CPA looking to deepen their hands-on accounting expertise across diversified commercial industries within a stable, single-client environment.

Client Overview

Our client is a multi-entity business group based in Eagle Farm, Queensland, operating across safety equipment supply, civil construction, defense contracting, and equipment hire. Operating multiple active divisions, they are seeking a dedicated remote CPA to support their core financial compliance, multi-entity bookkeeping, payroll, and day-to-day accounting functions.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM AEST (Brisbane / Eagle Farm, QLD Time), with 30 minutes paid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP), including processing supplier invoices, executing payment runs, performing supplier reconciliations, and handling vendor inquiries.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero across all business entities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, internal controls, and clear process documentation.
  • Process fortnightly payroll and support ongoing superannuation and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Prepare month-end journals, expense accruals, and ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate/process depreciation journals.
  • Prepare monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and PAYG figures, while supporting annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) requirements.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting, budgeting, internal audits, and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Support the generation of monthly management reports and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions as needed.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve internal financial processes and reporting efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Australian Accounting Expertise: Practical working knowledge of Australian bookkeeping standards, Xero software, fortnightly payroll processing, and BAS/PAYG concepts.
  • Core Accounting Skills: Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable workflows, supplier reconciliations, month-end journals, and asset registers.
  • Accuracy & Focus: Meticulous attention to detail when executing payment runs, auditing data entries, and performing numerical checks.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
