Job Overview

 Our client is seeking an experienced Freight Dispatcher to join their growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in keeping freight operations running smoothly by sourcing profitable loads, negotiating competitive rates with brokers, and coordinating shipments from pickup to delivery. You'll work closely with owner operators to maximize earnings, resolve logistical challenges, and ensure efficient, on-time deliveries through strong communication and operational expertise. 

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Source and secure optimal loads for owner operators by searching freight boards and evaluating lane profitability
• Negotiate competitive rates and detention pay terms with brokers to maximize driver earnings
• Monitor each load from pickup to delivery, proactively addressing delays, routing issues, or facility complications
• Coordinate Friday planning to position drivers in strategic locations for weekend load pickups
• Maintain clear, consistent communication with drivers and the business owner on load status and any operational hiccups
• Manage all load-related documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping

Requirements

• Proven experience in freight dispatching for semi trucks, including cross-country routes
• Strong negotiation skills with freight brokers and understanding of rate structures
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple drivers and loads simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with the owner operator and small fleet business model
