Job Overview
Our client is looking for an Xero Bookkeeper who plays a key role in supporting the financial operations by ensuring accurate bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, reconciliations, and financial administration. Working closely with the Directors and external team, the successful candidate will help maintain the financial health of the business by producing accurate financial records, supporting Australian bookkeeping compliance, and providing excellent service when communicating with clients regarding invoices and account enquiries. This role is ideal for someone proactive, detail-oriented, takes ownership of their work, and is excited by the opportunity to grow as the business continues to expand.

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM (with 30-minute unpaid break), Sydney time (25 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end Accounts Receivable, including invoicing, payment allocation, debtor monitoring, collections, and processing credit notes or refunds.
- Handle Accounts Payable by processing supplier invoices, preparing payment runs, reconciling statements, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining supplier records.
- Process weekly payroll in Xero, including leave, superannuation, payroll adjustments, and compliance with Australian payroll standards.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in Xero, including bank and credit card reconciliations, journals, general ledger entries, and month-end support.
- Prepare weekly cash flow and financial reports and assist with BAS documentation and lodgement.
- Provide professional client, supplier, and internal finance support by responding to account, invoice, and payment enquiries while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting finance procedures, leveraging AI tools such as Claude to improve efficiency, and supporting new system implementations.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with strong proficiency in Xero.
- Proven experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, weekly payroll, and bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of Australian GST and BAS processes.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with professional phone etiquette and confidence communicating directly with clients.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Xero, Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and QuickBooks; experience with Stripe, GoCardless, and Hubdoc is highly desirable.
- Open to learning new technologies and using AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to improve productivity and efficiency.
