Senior US Tax Accountant

Overview

Join a dynamic team as a Senior US Tax Accountant, where you will manage and execute complex individual, corporate, and partnership U.S. tax returns. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to leverage your extensive tax expertise to identify savings, navigate audits, and directly support case managers and attorneys. Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, anytime between 8am and 6pm, 40 hours a week Pacific time

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file individual, corporate and partnership tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to for tax collection analysis and to identify tax-saving opportunities and areas of potential tax risk.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and represent the company during tax audits.
  • Stay updated with the latest tax regulations, rulings, and trends, ensuring the company's tax practices are up-to-date and compliant.
  • Ability to adapt and accommodate to established standards and procedures.
  • Time management skills.
  • Efficient workflow performance.
  • Collaborate with the legal and tax teams to gather necessary information for tax filings.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management on tax-related matters.
  • Report to Case Manager and/or Attorney.

Requirements

  • MUST BE WILLING TO TAKE THE CLIENT'S ASSESSMENT
  • 7+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience
  • At least 1,000 individual (1040) returns filed
  • 400–600 business tax returns prepared
  • 200+ R&D filings completed from analysis
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in U.S. tax accounting
  • Experience preparing individual, corporate, and partnership returns, including original and amended filings (1120S experience preferred)
  • Experience with tax audits (internal and external)
  • Knowledge of U.S. Federal and California state tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with research and development credits preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or similar) preferred
  • Enrolled Agent designation preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in tax software, specifically TaxAct
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal (Spanish a plus)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound ethical judgment
  • Team-oriented with client-facing experience
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Commitment to continuous learning through training, workshops, and seminars
