Patient Care Coordinator

Overview

We are seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients and ensure seamless support throughout their care journey. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage both administrative and clinical support tasks. Candidates with prior authorization experience, phone handling expertise, and a medical background are highly preferred. Knowledge in dermatology is an advantage.

Schedule

  • 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM US Central Time, 1-hour unpaid break, 35 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage incoming patient phone calls with professionalism and empathy.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, rescheduling, and follow‑up appointments.
  • Process and manage prior authorizations for dermatology procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and practice protocols.
  • Support providers by preparing patient charts and assisting with documentation.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding services, billing, and insurance coverage.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery.
  • Provide administrative support including email correspondence, lead capture, and patient intake.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare or medical office setting.
  • Prior authorization experience in dermatology (varicose veins) is an advantage.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and ability to manage high call volumes.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • HIPAA knowledge and commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with scheduling systems, EMRs, and web‑based communication platforms.
  • Personable communication style with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
