Accountant/Bookkeeper
Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping and accounting experience who can confidently manage financial records, reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting while working independently in a remote environment.
A strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Xero accounting software is essential for success in this role.
Schedule:
- Flexible within client business hours - Australian Time
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in Xero
- Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Prepare and process invoices, bills, and payments
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on overdue payments where required
Accounting Support
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and cash flow tracking
- Support BAS, payroll, and other compliance-related tasks as required
- Maintain organized financial documentation and records
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial systems
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Accountant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role
- Significant hands-on experience using Xero accounting software (essential)
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial processes
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
Preferred (Nice to Have):
- Experience supporting Australian businesses within the property, construction, or trades industry
- Familiarity with Australian accounting and compliance processes
- Previous remote work experience
