CPA Finance Operations Lead

Job Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing enterprise focused on operational excellence and strategic expansion through corporate acquisitions. They are seeking a highly analytical, mid-to-senior level CPA Finance Operations Lead to oversee their core accounting functions and act as a strategic financial partner to leadership. This is a comprehensive, hands-on role where you will balance corporate accounting fundamentals—such as running the full month-end close process and managing tax compliance—with high-level corporate finance initiatives. You will take ownership of developing complex financial models, conducting deep-dive due diligence, and preparing formal business cases for potential corporate acquisitions.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM EST, with a 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Financial Controller Oversight: Manage the end-to-end accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes to guarantee transaction accuracy and healthy cash flow.
  • Month-End Close: Execute comprehensive monthly book-closing procedures and prepare complete, accurate financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • M&A Financial Modeling: Analyze target company financial data and build robust financial models to evaluate prospective acquisition opportunities.
  • Due Diligence & Business Cases: Prepare rigorous investment business cases for corporate acquisitions, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, forecasting, and intensive financial due diligence.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare, verify, and file state and local sales tax returns across all applicable multi-state jurisdictions.
  • Data & Systems Hygiene: Maintain the absolute integrity of financial records across all accounting software systems and scale financial architectures as the company grows.
  • Strategic Advisory: Support the executive leadership team with corporate financial planning, rolling forecasts, and ad hoc strategic projects to drive business decisions.

Requirements

  • Professional Credentials: Active CPA designation (Certified Public Accountant) or an equivalent, recognized charter is strictly required.
  • Core Accounting Experience: Mid-to-senior level experience directing corporate accounting, auditing, or corporate finance departments.
  • Technical Software Mastery: High level of proficiency operating QuickBooks and the Google Workspace ecosystem.
  • Strategic Finance Skillset: Demonstrated experience in multi-jurisdictional financial reporting, advanced forecasting, and target company financial analysis.
  • M&A Foundations: A strong, proven understanding of corporate acquisition evaluations, valuation modeling, and accounting due diligence workflows.
  • Communication & Autonomy: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with a proven ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
