Job Overview
Our client is a boutique residential construction company, specializing in high-end architectural projects and modular housing solutions. With a dedicated team of 5-6 professionals, they deliver bespoke builds across New South Wales, and coastal regions. They are seeking a meticulous Quantity Surveyor to provide accurate, unbiased cost assessments. This role is pivotal in the pre-qualification phase, helping to vet potential clients based on realistic budget expectations before the company commits extensive resources to detailed project estimates.

Tuesday to Thursday, 9am-3pm AEDT (18 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Detailed Estimating: Prepare comprehensive quantity surveying estimates for residential builds, including architectural homes and modular housing.
- Client Vetting: Review project documentation to provide unbiased cost assessments, ensuring clients have realistic budget expectations early in the process.
- Compliance: Ensure all estimates and project quotes comply with Australian building codes, local regulations, and occupancy permit requirements (specifically for NSW and ACT).
- Rapid Turnaround: Quote projects within tight deadlines, often requiring a completed estimate within a one-week turnaround.
- Business Support: Support additional business tasks, including potential marketing assistance, to maximize productivity during project-variable hours.
- Documentation Review: Analyze architectural plans and specifications to identify potential cost risks or material requirements.
Requirements
- Australian Industry Expertise: Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation specifically for Australian residential construction.
- Regional Knowledge: Strong understanding of building compliance requirements for the New South Wales and Canberra (ACT) regions.
- Flexibility: Ability to work independently on a project-by-project basis with a variable workload.
- Precision: High attention to detail to ensure estimates reflect current market rates and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Experience with modular housing or prefabricated construction methods (Preferred).
- Skills in marketing support or a willingness to assist with business development tasks (Preferred).
- Familiarity with sourcing construction materials internationally (Preferred).
