Healthcare QuickBooks Reconciliation Specialist (Balance Sheet Cleanup)

Job Overview

Our client, a healthcare organization committed to operational excellence, is seeking a meticulous QuickBooks Balance Sheet Specialist to lead critical cleanup initiatives. This role is focused on the "health" of the company’s financial position, requiring a deep dive into historical data to rectify coding errors, reconcile complex accounts, and ensure the balance sheet is audit-ready. This is an ideal position for a disciplined accounting professional who enjoys the "detective work" of forensic reconciliation and has a strong grasp of how healthcare-specific transactions impact financial reporting.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 20 hours per week. Note: Flexible working hours between 06:00 AM – 08:00 PM CST.

Responsibilities

  • Balance Sheet Cleanup: Execute comprehensive cleanup procedures within QuickBooks to ensure all asset, liability, and equity accounts are accurately represented.
  • Account Reconciliation: Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying discrepancies and ensuring they align with supporting documentation.
  • Error Correction: Detect and rectify account coding errors and misclassifications that impact financial accuracy.
  • Audit Preparation: Maintain meticulous financial records to ensure the organization is consistently audit-ready and compliant with accounting standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports outlining cleanup activities, identified issues, and the corrective actions taken.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams to resolve complex discrepancies and improve future data entry workflows.

Requirements

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online).
  • Accounting Expertise: A strong, fundamental understanding of balance sheet structure and accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Reconciliation Experience: Proven track record of performing complex account reconciliations and "cleaning" messy sets of books.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot minute errors in high-volume data.
  • Independence: Ability to manage cleanup projects autonomously and meet deadlines within a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in healthcare industry accounting (Highly Preferred).
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance and its impact on financial reporting (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in prior balance sheet cleanup or "catch-up" projects (Preferred).
