SMS Marketing Copywriter

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9 am-6 pm, includes 1hr unpaid break | CST

 

Role Overview

This role is primarily focused on writing high-performing SMS campaign scripts, with additional support across ringless voicemail (RVM), email copy, light website content, and social media as needed. The ideal candidate enjoys crafting short, persuasive messages that feel natural and human—not overly sales-driven.

 

Key Responsibilities

SMS Copywriting (Primary Focus)

  • Write and refresh SMS campaign scripts for automotive marketing campaigns
  • Adapt messaging for:
    • Special events and promotions

    • Inventory clearouts

    • Lease renewals and pull-aheads

    • Service-to-sales campaigns

    • Holiday and seasonal promotions

  • Edit and create script variations to prevent duplication across campaigns

Supporting Copy

  • Write copy for:
    • Ringless voicemails (RVMs)

    • Follow-up SMS sequences

    • Occasional email campaigns

  • Assist with:
    • Light website copy updates (headlines, sections, minor rewrites)

    • Social media captions and campaign announcements

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Follow brand, offer, and compliance guidelines (TCPA/CASL knowledge is a plus)
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging with campaign strategy
  • Apply feedback quickly and consistently

 

Qualifications

  • Strong short-form copywriting skills, especially conversational SMS
  • Ability to write messages that are:
    • Natural

    • Clear

    • Non-pushy

    • Human and engaging

  • Experience with automotive marketing is a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable working within defined brand, offer, and compliance guardrails
  • Detail-oriented with strong adherence to briefs and instructions
  • Able to refresh or rework scripts while preserving intent and key messaging
  • Reliable, responsive, and comfortable in a fast-paced campaign environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience writing for dealerships or automotive marketing campaigns
  • Familiarity with SMS compliance best practices
  • Experience with marketing platforms, CRMs, or campaign workflows
  • Basic understanding of conversion-focused copywriting
