Overview

Our client is looking for a proactive Social Media Specialist (Mortgage Broking) to partner with an established Melbourne-based mortgage broking business specializing in high-value, complex financing deals. Operating since 2008 and handling $2–3 million loan structures, they are expanding their digital presence to drive targeted client acquisition. In this role, you will work directly with the business owner to build and execute a high-impact social media strategy across major platforms. Your focus will be transforming raw footage and concepts into compelling content that generates qualified leads and measurable business growth.

Schedule:

• 9 AM to 1 PM, Chadstone VIC (Australian Eastern Time)

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze competitor social media profiles to identify effective strategies and content opportunities
• Edit raw videos and create engaging reels, shorts, and posts optimized for each platform
• Collaborate with the business owner to develop content ideas and refine messaging that resonates with target audiences
• Write compelling captions and headlines that drive engagement and conversions
• Schedule and post content daily across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube
• Manage WhatsApp professional account to distribute content to database of 1,500-2,000 contacts and respond to inquiries
• Engage with community groups (particularly Melbourne-based communities of 30,000+ members) through strategic commenting and interaction
• Proactively identify older high-performing content and repurpose it with fresh elements to maximize reach
• Utilize cloud-based content management systems to organize and access raw materials
• Provide strategic recommendations on content direction, timing, and platform optimization without waiting for detailed instructions

Requirements

• Proven experience as a social media specialist with a portfolio demonstrating successful campaigns
• Strong video editing skills with the ability to add music, B-roll, and create polished final products from raw footage
• Experience creating content specifically for mortgage broking, financial services, or professional services industries
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and think strategically rather than just following instructions
• Proficiency with social media scheduling and content management tools
• Excellent understanding of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube best practices
• Strong copywriting skills for captions, headlines, and engagement copy
• Ability to analyze competitor content and translate insights into actionable strategies
• Comfortable managing WhatsApp Business for client communication and content distribution
• Proactive mindset with ability to identify opportunities and make recommendations without prompting

Nice-to-Have Requirements

• Bonus if you have experience working with cloud-based content management systems
• It helps if you're familiar with Whisper or similar AI transcription tools for content creation
