Role Name: Solar Estimator / Bidding Specialist
Schedule: 4–6 hours/day, Mon–Fri (Part-Time)
Client Timezone: PST
Client overview
A growing US-based solar and battery installation company, this business delivers residential and commercial clean energy projects across the Los Angeles market — including a significant volume of post-fire rebuilding work. They operate at the intersection of traditional solar expertise and modern AI-assisted bidding technology, and are scaling their remote team to keep pace with high demand. The company works within California's complex regulatory environment and partners with licensed engineering firms to ensure every project is fully code-compliant and permit-ready.
Job description
You will be the driving force behind accurate, competitive bids for a fast-moving pipeline of residential and commercial solar and battery projects. Working alongside an internal AI bidding agent, you will fine-tune its outputs and apply your expertise to ensure every estimate is precise, code-compliant, and delivered on time. You will manage competing deadlines across a high-volume, time-sensitive workload — including urgent post-fire rebuilding bids in the Los Angeles area — and play a direct role in shaping the company's estimating capabilities as they grow.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates and competitive bids for residential and commercial solar and battery installation projects
- Ensure all bids comply with California's strict building codes and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the internal AI bidding agent to fine-tune its outputs and improve bidding accuracy over time
- Manage a high volume of time-sensitive bid requests, prioritizing urgent turnarounds as needed
- Support new construction projects by accounting for proper installation sequencing in estimates
Must-have requirements
- Proven experience in solar and/or construction estimating and bidding
- Familiarity with solar design tools such as SolarGraph, Helioscope, or Aurora
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial solar and battery systems
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
Nice-to-have requirements
- Bonus if you have prior experience on post-disaster or new construction rebuilding projects in Southern California
- It helps if you have worked with AI-assisted estimating tools or are comfortable training and refining automated systems
- Bonus if you have hands-on experience in the Los Angeles or greater Southern California solar market
Why join this team
- 100% remote engagement — work from anywhere during Pacific Time business hours
- Part-time start with a clear pathway to expand into a full-time role as the pipeline grows
- Work on high-impact, meaningful projects including LA post-fire community rebuilding
- Collaborate with cutting-edge AI bidding technology and directly influence its accuracy and improvement
- Stable, ongoing engagement backed by strong and growing market demand in the Los Angeles area
