Full-Stack GCP & AppSheet Migration Developer (CRM Modernization)

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM UK time with 1-hour unpaid break (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)

About the Company
The company runs its CRM (CRM X) on AppSheet apps backed by Google Sheets. We are moving it to a custom web application on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The database platform has not been decided. This role supports the existing AppSheet apps, cleans and prepares data for the migration, and helps build and test parts of the new application under the guidance of the Head of IT and our external engineering partner. Architecture, the database decision and GCP configuration are owned by others. This role is a good fit for a developer early in their career who is strong on detail and keen to learn cloud development.
Supporting the Current Platform

  • Handle day-to-day support requests for the AppSheet apps (Administration, Sales Pipeline, Delegate Pipeline and Event Management), and fix routine issues such as view and action changes, user access and form errors.
  • Reproduce user-reported problems, such as sync failures and pending changes that do not clear, collect the details and escalate to the Head of IT with clear notes.
  • Maintain existing Google Apps Script automations and make small, reviewed changes.
  • Keep a log of issues and fixes so recurring problems can be documented and addressed.

Data Quality and Migration Support

  • Profile and document the source data in the linked Google Sheets tables, noting relationships, inconsistencies and duplicates.
  • Clean and de-duplicate data using SQL, Python, Apps Script or spreadsheet tools, following agreed rules.
  • Write and run extract, transform and load scripts under review by the Head of IT or external partner.
  • Compare row counts and key relationships between old and new systems, and record any differences.
  • Take part in test migrations and cutover testing.

Contributing to the New Application

  • Build small, well-defined pieces of the new application, such as simple API endpoints or screens, following designs and standards set by others.
  • Write tests for the code you produce and keep documentation current.
  • Support user acceptance testing: prepare test cases, run them and report results.
  • Use AI coding tools carefully, with every change reviewed and tested before use.

What This Role Does Not Own

  • Architecture and the choice of database platform.
  • GCP project setup, access management, security settings and cost control.
  • Production deployments and release approval.

Required Qualifications

  • 0 to 2 years of experience in software development, data, IT support or a similar technical role. Relevant projects or coursework count.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, and basic skills in Python or JavaScript.
  • Comfort with Google Sheets formulas and data cleaning tasks.
  • Basic familiarity with Git.
  • Strong attention to detail and clear written and spoken English.
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions early and work with non-technical users.
  • Willingness to learn AppSheet, Google Apps Script, GCP and React.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AppSheet or Google Apps Script.
  • Exposure to any cloud platform, ideally GCP, or a cloud certification in progress (for example Google Cloud Digital Leader or Associate Cloud Engineer).
  • Exposure to REST APIs, React or relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with data cleaning, spreadsheets or ETL work.

Success Measures

  • First month: you understand the four AppSheet apps and how users work in them, and you can handle routine support requests with guidance.
  • 3 months: you resolve routine issues on your own, document recurring problems and complete assigned data cleaning tasks accurately.
  • 6 months: you deliver migration scripts and small pieces of the new application with tests and documentation, and you support testing for the first release.

Working Environment
This is a small team and you will work closely with the Head of IT, who will review your work and provide direction. We are looking for someone who is reliable, careful with data and keen to build their skills.

Independent Contractor Perks

  • Health insurance coverage for eligible locations
  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring

Note

  • Please click the "Apply" button to complete your application, including the assessment questions, technical check, and voice recording. Your hourly pay rate will be established based on your performance in the application process; submissions with all requirements fulfilled will receive priority review.

One application, multiple possibilities: When you apply, our team reviews your background against all current openings, not just this one! If a different role fits your skills, we'll get in touch! We also encourage you to keep exploring our job board and apply directly to any position that excites you.
