Civil CAD Drafter – AutoCAD & Stormwater

Client Overview

A specialist civil engineering consulting practice based in Sydney, Australia, focused on residential stormwater and drainage design. The business is owner-operated and partner-led, delivering civil engineering documentation across approximately 70–80 residential projects per year within the Sydney construction market. They operate with tight two- to three-week turnaround deadlines and a lean, collaborative team structure.

Job Description

You will work directly with the business owner and engineering partner to keep a consistent pipeline of residential civil projects moving on schedule. You will translate architectural plans into polished AutoCAD draft files using established templates, prepare documentation ready for the engineer to complete the design component, and refine drawings based on direct feedback — all while meeting tight turnaround windows. As your expertise deepens, you will have a clear pathway to contribute to stormwater design work, expanding your technical footprint and becoming an increasingly valuable part of the team.

Schedule

  • Evening hours AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time), aligning with Philippine afternoon (approx. 1:00 PM–2:00 PM PHT onward), 20 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering draft files ready for the engineer to complete the design component
  • Clean up and finalize drawings based on engineer feedback and revision notes

  • Support stormwater and drainage design documentation as skills develop over time

Must-have requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with demonstrated experience in civil or structural drafting
  • Background in residential or civil engineering drafting projects
  • Familiarity with stormwater concepts such as on-site detention, gravity systems, and absorption systems is a strong advantage
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings
  • Strong communication skills and ability to be readily contactable during working hours
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice-to-have requirements

  • Bonus if you have prior exposure to WSUD design, charged line systems, or stormwater design calculations
  • It helps if you have experience working with Australian residential construction documentation standards or drawing conventions
  • Bonus if you are comfortable adapting to variable project volumes and seasonal workload fluctuations

Why Join this team

  • Fully remote, part-time engagement of approximately 20 hours per week with flexibility to adjust hours based on project volume
  • Work directly with the business owner and engineering partner — direct communication, clear feedback, and no corporate layers
  • Stable, long-term engagement across a consistent pipeline of approximately 70–80 residential projects per year
