Website Developer (WordPress)

Job Overview:

Our client is looking for a capable and hands-on Website Developer to manage, maintain, and develop two custom-built WordPress websites. The role will suit someone with a good understanding of web development and coding who is comfortable working within an existing WordPress codebase, troubleshooting issues, and making ongoing improvements to website functionality and performance. Experience with Salesforce and third-party integrations would be highly desirable, as the websites connect with other business systems and platforms.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM UK Time; Part-time role

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain two custom-built WordPress websites.
  • Make website updates, improvements, and content-related changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the websites.
  • Work confidently with WordPress themes, plugins, and custom code.
  • Develop and maintain website functionality using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Identify opportunities to improve website performance, usability, security, and reliability.
  • Manage WordPress updates, plugins, integrations, and general website maintenance.
  • Monitor website performance and help resolve issues affecting users or website functionality.
  • Work with internal teams to understand requirements and translate them into practical website solutions.
  • Manage and troubleshoot integrations between the websites and third-party systems.
  • Work with and understand Salesforce integrations, including data flows between the website and Salesforce.
  • Liaise with external developers/agencies where additional specialist support is required.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation around website functionality, integrations, and technical changes.
  • Report to the CTO & Head of Marketing

Requirements

  • Experience managing and developing WordPress websites, particularly custom-built sites.
  • Good understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify existing code.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of databases and APIs.
  • Experience working with third-party integrations.
  • Understanding of website security, hosting, domains, DNS, and SSL.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce and Salesforce API/integrations.
  • Experience with APIs and webhooks.
  • Experience with Git/version control.
  • Experience with MySQL or other relational databases.
  • Experience with Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager.
  • Knowledge of website hosting and server environments.
  • Knowledge of website performance and SEO.
  • Experience with CRM, marketing automation, or lead-generation integrations.
