Software Quality Assurance Analyst

Job Overview

The Software Quality Assurance Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the quality, security, and reliability of proprietary software products. In this role, you will devise manual test cases from functional requirements, perform exploratory testing, and expand automated regression suites using frameworks like Cypress and Katalon. Working closely with Agile development teams, you will triage bugs, setup test environments, and help establish an automation-first testing strategy. This full-time position requires strong problem-solving skills to ensure seamless software releases.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST with 1 hr unpaid break (40 hrs per week)

Responsibilities

· Perform manual exploratory testing.

· Design automated tests to validate applications using various test frameworks, including Cypress and Katalon.

· Prioritize test scenarios and create execution plans.

· Implement automation first strategy by maintaining, expanding, and improving existing automated testing framework.

· Analyze bug reports, highlight problems, and deliver regular reports to development stakeholders.

· Collaborate with development teams to triage and identify bugs and develop a comprehensive testing plan.

· Stay informed about new testing tools and strategies to improve efficiency.

· Perform set up and maintenance of test environments and servers to optimize output.

· Understand the security acceptance criteria for each tested feature.

· Write test plans and test cases to verify acceptance criteria, including security criteria.

· Verify that acceptance criteria are met, including security criteria (test execution).

· Verify that dependency vulnerabilities are resolved using static application security testing (SAST) reporting.

· Author, perform, and maintain Regression Test Cases (preferably via automation, but manually in cases where such automation is incomplete) so that both past issues and critical identifiable predictable problems are not introduced, and so that application function is not lost, even when such function isn’t necessarily being changed by ongoing development.

· Familiarity with common software security risks (e.g. OWASP Top 10, Threat Modeling, STRIDE analysis and PCI Standards).

· Test automation (as a discrete responsibility, not just framework maintenance), documentation (as an explicit responsibility), and risk analysis.

  • 1-3+ years of experience in software QA, software testing, or quality engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing.
  • Experience creating test cases and test plans from software requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience performing manual exploratory testing and automated regression testing.

  • Experience with regression testing, risk-based testing, and test execution planning.
  • Understanding of security testing and common application security risks, including OWASP Top 10.
  • Familiarity with SAST, threat modeling/STRIDE, and PCI standards is preferred.
  • Experience with test environment setup and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of software QA processes and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to work during regular ECRS business hours for collaboration with the development and Scrum teams.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Testing experience or a background in mathematics, software testing, or automated test development preferred.
  • Experience testing web applications preferred.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to evaluate the end-user experience within complex software environments.
  • Ability to translate multiple requirements and inputs into specific, comprehensive test cases, including edge cases.
