About the Client

Our client is an emerging e-commerce brand expanding its online platform and customer infrastructure. Focused on creating an exceptional online experience, they require an immediate-start digital multi-hyphenate to lead initial website setups, platform design refinements, and backend customer journey workflows across Shopify.

Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile Shopify Developer & Graphic Designer (E-Commerce & CX) to drive the initial launch phase of our client's e-commerce ecosystem. In this dual technical and creative role, you will take ownership of front-end Shopify theme customization, high-converting visual branding assets, and customer experience (CX) backend configurations. Your core objective is to establish a polished web presence, execute UI/UX design refinements, and build out the backend infrastructure that supports a seamless customer journey from click to delivery.

Schedule

  • 20 hours per week, flexible during Perth business hours

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Shopify & Web Development

  • Lead the initial buildout, setup, and structural configuration of the brand's Shopify store.
  • Implement front-end UI/UX layout refinements, Liquid code updates, and responsive mobile optimizations.
  • Configure e-commerce plugins, payment gateways, shipping rules, and custom functionality integrations.
  • Conduct site testing, speed optimization, and debugging to ensure high performance across all devices.

Graphic Design & Creative Assets

  • Design branded digital assets including homepage banners, product mockups, landing page layouts, and promotional graphics.
  • Maintain consistent visual identity and design standards across website graphics and customer touchpoints.
  • Create visual elements for email marketing templates, social media previews, and digital marketing materials.

Customer Experience (CX) Backend Infrastructure

  • Map, set up, and test automated customer communication flows (order confirmations, dispatch updates, abandoned cart recoveries).
  • Configure help desk, live chat, or CRM ticketing tool integrations within the Shopify backend.
  • Optimize backend workflows to track customer touchpoints, returns, and post-purchase follow-ups.

Technical Stack & Tools

  • E-Commerce & Dev: Shopify / Shopify Plus (Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript)
  • Design & Editing: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, Figma
  • CX & Automation: Klaviyo, Gorgias, Zendesk, or native Shopify CX integrations

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Shopify Expertise: Proven track record building, customizing, and optimizing Shopify e-commerce platforms.
  • Design Portfolio: Strong visual design portfolio showcasing e-commerce UI/UX designs, digital banners, and branding assets.
  • CX Technical Setup: Direct experience configuring backend customer infrastructure, transactional automation, and help desk tools.
  • Proactive Execution: Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, taking ownership of development and graphic deliverables during early-stage rollouts.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English skills for collaborating with stakeholders and providing project status updates.
