Residential Estimator (Wunderbuild)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a Residential Estimator to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects in Australia. This role involves reviewing tender documentation and construction plans, completing quantity take-offs, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, and building estimates using Wunderbuild. The successful candidate will work closely with the estimating team to ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and commercially sound before final review, delivering reliable estimates with minimal supervision.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Review tender documents, architectural plans, specifications, and project information.
  • Complete accurate quantity take-offs and prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using Wunderbuild.
  • Build and price residential construction estimates, including materials, labour, subcontractor, and other project costs.
  • Obtain, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure accurate scope, inclusions, exclusions, and pricing.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, inconsistencies, omissions, and potential cost risks in tender documents and estimates.
  • Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before final submission.
  • Document assumptions, exclusions, risks, and items requiring clarification for final review and approval.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records, cost data, and supporting documentation in Wunderbuild.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, and cost databases.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of Australian residential construction estimating experience.
  • Strong experience in quantity take-offs, BOQs, and detailed cost estimates.
  • Good knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials, and building practices.
  • Ability to read architectural plans, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Experience evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies and omissions.
  • Experience with construction estimating software; Wunderbuild experience is a plus.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline (Preferred).
  • Previous experience using Wunderbuild or similar construction estimating platforms (Preferred).
  • Experience working with Australian builders, contractors, or residential construction companies (Preferred).
  • Understanding of Australian residential building standards, terminology, and construction costs (Preferred).
