Job Description
 

We’re seeking a detail-oriented, bilingual Virtual Medical Assistant to join an established ophthalmology practice. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in healthcare administration while utilizing both English and Spanish language skills. You’ll be an integral part of a dynamic medical team, handling crucial patient care coordination and administrative responsibilities. This position provides excellent exposure to the medical field while allowing you to make a meaningful impact on patient care from a virtual setting.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (12:30 AM to 9:30 AM PHT)

Client Timezone: PST (California)
 
Responsibilities
  • Handle incoming patient calls professionally in both English and Spanish, ensuring excellent customer service and accurate message relay
  • Perform medical scribing duties, accurately documenting patient information and medical notes
  • Process and obtain insurance authorizations, working directly with insurance companies to facilitate patient care
  • Assist with medical billing processes and insurance claim submissions
  • Coordinate patient appointments and maintain scheduling systems
  • Manage and update electronic health records with attention to detail
  • Facilitate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
  • Support general administrative tasks related to patient care and practice management

Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Proven experience with medical terminology and healthcare documentation
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and medical privacy regulations
  • Experience with medical billing software and insurance authorization processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet home office setup
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration or medical office setting preferred
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional demeanor
