Debt Recovery Officer

Job Description:

As a Debt Recovery Officer, your primary focus will be conducting outbound calls to pursue and recover outstanding debts. You will maintain organized tracking of all communications and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure overdue accounts are resolved promptly and professionally.

Client Overview:

A Melbourne-based business requiring immediate support with debt collection efforts to recover outstanding payments. The company is focused on improving cash flow through consistent and professional debtor communication.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, flexible schedule during the client’s business hours (Australian Eastern Time, 40 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outbound calls to pursue and recover outstanding debts from clients or customers
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection attempts, outcomes, and follow-up actions
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and ensure timely resolution of overdue accounts
  • Escalate unresolved or disputed accounts in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide regular updates and reporting on collection progress and recovery rates
  • Follow up repeatedly with the same contacts to recover funds effectively

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in debt collection, accounts receivable, or outbound calling roles
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to remain professional under pressure
  • High level of attention to detail when managing account information
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistent follow-up schedules
  • Comfortable working Australian business hours
  • Bonus if you have experience with Melbourne-based debt recovery compliance
  • It helps if you have a firm yet respectful tone during collection negotiations
