SEO Specialist – Technical SEO & Client Success

Job Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced SEO Specialist with web development skills to manage SEO campaigns for a growing portfolio of Canadian small and mid-sized business clients. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on SEO experience across on-page, technical, local, and off-page SEO, along with the ability to make basic website updates and troubleshoot common technical SEO issues. You will work closely with agency founders to execute SEO strategies, improve website performance and search visibility, monitor results, and help maintain efficient SEO processes across multiple client accounts.

Schedule

  • Monday - Thursday, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM EST (20 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • SEO:
    • Manage end-to-end SEO campaigns for multiple Canadian business clients.
    • Execute on-page, technical, local, and off-page SEO strategies.
    • Conduct keyword research and identify opportunities for organic growth.
    • Optimize website content, meta titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, and other on-page elements.
    • Conduct technical SEO audits and identify issues affecting search performance.
    • Monitor keyword rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and other SEO KPIs.
    • Build and maintain local SEO strategies, including Google Business Profile optimization.
    • Support link-building and off-page SEO initiatives.
    • Research competitors and identify opportunities to improve search visibility.
    • Prepare SEO reports and communicate progress, recommendations, and results.
  • Web Development & Technical Support:
    • Make basic website updates and SEO-related changes.
    • Edit and update website content, pages, metadata, headings, links, and other on-page elements.
    • Troubleshoot basic technical SEO and website issues.
    • Implement SEO recommendations directly on websites when possible.
    • Work with CMS platforms such as WordPress or similar systems.
    • Assist with website structure, redirects, URL optimization, sitemap, indexing, and other technical SEO requirements.
    • Coordinate with developers when issues require more advanced technical support.
  • Agency Support:
    • Ensure proper setup and configuration of SEO tools and client accounts.
    • Help develop and improve the agency's SEO processes and workflows.
    • Provide guidance and training to agency founders on SEO best practices.
    • Manage multiple client accounts while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
    • Communicate SEO strategies, progress, and recommendations clearly to business owners and clients when needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an SEO Specialist.
  • Strong understanding of on-page, technical, local, and off-page SEO.
  • Hands-on experience with SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar platforms.
  • Basic to intermediate web development skills, including HTML and CSS.
  • Experience working with WordPress or another major CMS.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic website and technical SEO issues.
  • Experience managing multiple SEO campaigns or client accounts.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian or North American market is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • JavaScript knowledge.
  • Experience with Google Business Profile and local SEO.
  • Experience with schema markup/structured data.
  • Understanding of Core Web Vitals and website performance.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager.
  • Familiarity with web hosting, DNS, redirects, and website migrations.
  • Experience with SEO for small and mid-sized businesses.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on SEO professional who can also make basic website changes without relying on a developer for every task. You should be comfortable managing multiple client websites, identifying SEO opportunities, implementing changes, and explaining your recommendations clearly. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of SEO execution while also contributing to the agency's growing web and SEO service capabilities.
