US Staff Accountant (QuickBooks & Xero)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a US Staff Accountant to join their team as a permanent, full-time team member. In this role, you will play an integral part in supporting a professional US accounting firm by maintaining precise financial records, handling complex account reconciliations, managing month-end closes, and preparing financial statements. This opportunity offers a stable, long-term career path within established processes and a collaborative remote environment.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM CST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records, general ledgers, and transaction logs for multiple accounting firm clients.
  • Reconciliations & Adjustments: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations, including posting necessary adjusting journal entries.
  • Closing Procedures: Support and execute month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently and accurately.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare clear, structured financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and financial summaries for client review.
  • Client & Team Communication: Collaborate with team members through established systems and communicate directly with clients regarding accounting and reporting matters as needed.
  • Process Efficiency: Follow established accounting standards and contribute ideas for process improvements and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or public accounting support.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Xero, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred (or active candidate), but not required.
  • US Accounting Standards: Solid understanding of core accounting principles (GAAP), balance sheet reconciliation, and closing procedures.
  • Desirable Pluses: Previous experience working within a US CPA firm or public accounting setting; familiarity with multi-platform accounting setups, payroll processing, or basic tax return preparation support.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for direct client and internal collaboration.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
