Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical HVAC Estimator (Australian Construction) to join their growing team and support the delivery of commercial mechanical and air conditioning projects across Australia. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering, extensive experience estimating commercial HVAC/mechanical packages, and a solid understanding of Australian construction practices and standards. This role requires someone who can confidently interpret mechanical designs, prepare accurate estimates, and contribute technical expertise throughout the tender process. The ideal candidate has experience pricing commercial mechanical projects up to AUD $500,000, is proficient in Revit and mechanical design software, and has a strong understanding of Australian materials, suppliers, and construction requirements.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sydney Time (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for commercial mechanical/HVAC packages up to AUD $500,000.
• Interpret and review mechanical designs and specifications using Revit, identifying discrepancies and suggesting value engineering solutions.
• Issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating pricing and negotiating competitive quotes.
• Manage complete tender submissions within project deadlines while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and project specifications.
• Identify potential commercial risks and cost-saving opportunities during the tender and estimating process.
• Maintain organized estimating records, update market pricing databases, and refine cost libraries and processes.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, project delivery teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless alignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in commercial mechanical/HVAC estimating.
• Proven track record pricing Australian commercial mechanical packages valued up to AUD $500,000.
• Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, building standards, materials, and mechanical services.
• Hands-on experience using Revit for reviewing mechanical models, designs, and documentation.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized estimating software.
• Excellent commercial analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills with strong self-motivation for remote work.

• Experience using estimating software tools such as Groundplan, CostX, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
