ROLE: Division 8 & 10 Estimator
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Division 8 & 10 Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for door, frame, hardware, and specialty products on commercial construction projects. This is a fully remote position responsible for takeoffs, product specification review, pricing, and proposal development across Divisions 08 (Openings) and 10 (Specialties).
Schedule: 7:30AM - 4:30PM EST with 1 hour lunch break
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications for Division 8 (hollow metal doors/frames, wood doors, aluminum storefront/curtain wall, finish hardware, access doors) and Division 10 (toilet partitions, accessories, lockers, fire extinguisher cabinets, signage, corner guards, louvers).
- Review project specifications, door schedules, and hardware sets to ensure accurate scope coverage and code compliance.
- Prepare and price complete bid packages, including material, labor, freight, and applicable margins.
- Develop hardware sets and coordinate keying, electrified hardware, and access control requirements.
- Solicit and analyze vendor/manufacturer quotes to secure competitive pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities; communicate clarifications with general contractors.
- Submit bids through plan rooms and estimating platforms by required deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, addenda, and bid results.
- Support project handoff to project management and purchasing after award.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in Division 8 and/or Division 10 for commercial construction.
- Working knowledge of doors, frames, finish hardware, and specialty products, including relevant building/fire/life-safety codes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and door/hardware schedules.
- Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software.
- Strong math, organizational, and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Reliable high-speed internet and a suitable home office environment.
