Job Description

You will be the first voice prospects hear when learning about this community publication opportunity. Your role is to connect with local business owners through outbound calling, introduce them to the advertising opportunity using a proven script, and schedule qualified appointments for the sales team to present the full offering.

This is a high-volume calling role where your persistence and communication skills directly impact the company's ability to grow their network of business supporters and expand the publication's reach in the community.


Responsibilities

  • Make outbound cold calls to local businesses using provided Chamber of Commerce directories and prospect lists
  • Follow a simple, proven script to introduce the publication and advertising opportunity to business owners
  • Schedule qualified appointments for the sales team to present the full advertising partnership
  • Reach out to businesses across all industries including contractors, salons, hearing centers, jewelry stores, and home service providers
  • Maintate consistent call volume during scheduled blocks to maximize appointment setting
  • Communicate appointment details and prospect information clearly to the sales team
  • Adapt calling approach based on different business owner schedules and availability
  • Persist through the challenges of cold calling while maintaining a professional and charismatic tone

Must-Have Requirements

  • Proven recent experience as an appointment setter, cold caller, or outreach specialist
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage business owners over the phone
  • Persistence and resilience in handling cold calling rejections
  • Ability to work independently and maintain productivity during scheduled hours
  • Comfortable following scripts while adding natural conversation flow
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for making calls
  • Availability to work 20 hours per week on a consistent schedule

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Bonus if you have experience calling businesses in specific industries like home services, salons, or contractors
  • It helps if you have worked with Chamber of Commerce directories or similar business lists
