Job Overview
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Public Tax Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a wide range of tax returns, conducting comprehensive tax planning, and collaborating directly with clients to deliver exceptional service and ensure regulatory compliance.
Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST, with 1 hour unpaid (40 work hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, and individual returns, with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
- Conduct comprehensive tax planning and research to identify savings opportunities and minimize client tax liabilities.
- Collaborate directly with clients to gather tax-related information, address inquiries, and deliver exceptional service.
- Stay continuously updated on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure absolute regulatory compliance.
- Assist in resolving complex tax-related issues and respond to inquiries from tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and contribute to improving internal tax processes for enhanced firm efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior team members and participate actively in firm team-building events.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably within a public accounting firm.
- Intermediate, up-to-date knowledge of tax rules, compliance, and regulations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA license or progress toward it is a plus).
- Proficient with modern tax software, accounting systems, and digital research tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex tax scenarios and provide innovative solutions.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven to ensure accurate and timely completion of all deliverables.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
