Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist to manage day-to-day financial operations for a US-based strategic capital and financial services firm. In this full-time remote role, you will take ownership of the full bookkeeping process, including recording daily transactions, managing accounts payable/receivable, handling bank reconciliations, and supporting payroll. Moving beyond simple data entry, you will analyze records to resolve financial discrepancies, prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports, and maintain organized digital documentation. The ideal candidate has supported small-to-medium small businesses, possesses advanced QuickBooks or Xero proficiency, and can provide clear financial visibility to leadership.
Schedule
Mon-Fri, 8 am - 5 pm MDT (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Record and categorize daily financial transactions accurately
- Manage the full bookkeeping process and ensure records remain updated
- Generate, send, and follow up on client invoices
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Identify and resolve financial discrepancies through analysis and reporting
- Maintain organized digital records of financial documents
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Support the accounting team with audits, reviews, and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and accounting standards
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
Requirements
Required
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Assistant, or Accounting Specialist
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures
- Experience managing financial records for small to medium-sized businesses
- Proficiency with accounting software such as:
- QuickBooks
- Xero
- Similar accounting platforms
- Strong MS Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Ability to prepare reports and analyze financial information
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Highly Preferred
- Previous experience supporting US or international clients
- Finance, Accounting, or related degree/certification
- Experience with multiple accounting systems
- Payroll processing experience
- Experience preparing management reports or financial summaries
- Ability to collaborate with business owners, accountants, and leadership teams
