The primary objective of this role is to produce high-quality research and technical documentation that directly supports the development of a new software platform.
Schedule:
- Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Australian Eastern Time, 20 hours per week)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep market, competitor, and technology research across software platforms, AI, digital twins, enterprise software, and related industries.
- Research existing products, APIs, SDKs, and integration opportunities to determine where proven technology can be leveraged instead of building functionality from scratch.
- Produce polished research briefs, comparison matrices, and technical summaries suitable for informing architecture and product decisions.
- Document product concepts, workflows, technical requirements, feature specifications, and research findings into well-structured internal knowledge assets.
- Investigate best practices used by leading technology companies and identify opportunities that can strengthen our product strategy.
- Research commercial opportunities, partnerships, government programs, and emerging market trends relevant to the business.
- Assist in developing structured knowledge repositories, documentation standards, and internal information architecture.
- Use AI tools to improve research efficiency while maintaining accuracy and source validation.
- Present findings clearly with recommendations, supporting evidence, and actionable insights rather than simply collecting information.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Strong analytical research and technical writing skills.
- Experience researching SaaS, enterprise software, AI platforms, or emerging technologies.
- Ability to understand technical concepts without necessarily being a software engineer.
- Excellent written English with the ability to simplify complex subjects.
- Experience creating professional documentation, reports, and knowledge bases.
- Comfortable comparing software products, APIs, integration capabilities, and technical ecosystems.
- Highly proficient with Google Workspace and AI research tools (ideally, they have their own access to tools—I will provide the Google Workspace).
- Self-directed, intellectually curious, and capable of independently investigating unfamiliar topics.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys solving complex problems, thinks critically, validates information rather than accepting it at face value, and takes pride in producing documentation that is polished, technically accurate, and immediately useful for executive decision-making.
Independent Contractor Perks:
- Permanent work from home
- Immediate hiring
