Job Overview

Our client is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Development Assistant (Nonprofit) to support fundraising, donor relations, and day-to-day development operations. In this full-time remote role, you will maintain accurate donor records, coordinate fundraising campaigns and events, support donor stewardship, and ensure the seamless execution of development initiatives. This position is ideal for an organized, self-sufficient professional who enjoys working with data, possesses strong written communication skills, and is dedicated to delivering an outstanding donor experience.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM California Time (Pacific Time), with a 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Development Operations & CRM Management: Maintain accurate donor and prospect records within the organization's CRM system; process incoming donations, and generate polished acknowledgment letters and tax receipts in a timely manner.
  • Campaign & Data Administration: Run operational reports, mailing lists, and donor analytics to support fundraising campaigns; track donor interactions, stewardship activities, and prospect pipeline movement.
  • Donor Communications: Support donor acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives; assist with direct mail, email, and digital fundraising campaigns while coordinating donor recognition listings.
  • Administrative Support: Prepare professional donor packets, presentations, and meeting materials; coordinate calendars, agendas, and follow-up tracking for the fundraising team.
  • Financial Coordination: Generate financial, fundraising, and constituent reports as requested; track development expenses, invoices, vendor reimbursements, and operational budgets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments to coordinate multi-channel fundraising initiatives; assist with donor events, sponsorship activations, proposal preparation, and stewardship documentation.

Requirements

  • Nonprofit Development Footprint: Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, donor relations, event coordination, or a closely related field.
  • CRM Database Competency: Practical experience using CRM platforms or donor management software (prior experience with Tessitura or similar specialized databases is highly preferred).
  • Linguistic Standard: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, equipped to compose compelling donor correspondence, proposals, and acknowledgments.
  • Software Tool Stack Literacy: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
  • Operational Habits: Deep attention to detail, strong administrative formatting skills, and the capability to manage multiple project deadlines independently.

Qualifications

  • Education: A formal Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional industry experience is required.
  • Previous experience supporting complex fundraising campaigns, annual giving programs, or donor segmentation frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of donor stewardship best practices and remote event coordination.
  • A strong, demonstrable passion for supporting mission-driven organizations.
