Xero Bookkeeper (Reconciliation & Payroll)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking for a Xero Bookkeeper (Reconciliation & Payroll) to clean up and maintaining financial records for a small but growing business consultancy. The business has been operating for approximately 10 months with minimal bookkeeping oversight, requiring historical reconciliation and ongoing financial management. The workload includes managing finances for seven monthly clients, two employees, and a handful of contractors.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM AEST (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and clean up 10 months of historical financial records in Xero, including untangling personal and business expenses on a shared credit card
  • Process payroll for employees and contractor payments accurately and on time
  • Manage tax compliance including GST calculations and BAS preparation for submission to the accountant
  • Generate and send monthly invoices to clients in a timely manner
  • Provide general administrative support as needed within the allocated hours

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of proven bookkeeping experience
  • Strong proficiency in Xero accounting software
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Experience working with consulting or professional services businesses (Nice-to-have)
  • Background in reconciling complex expense records and separating business from personal transactions (Nice-to-have)
