Marketing Communications & Social Media Manager (Mailchimp & Canva)

Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and creative Marketing Communications & Social Media Manager to lead and strengthen marketing communications across digital platforms, fundraising campaigns, events, and community engagement initiatives. This role is ideal for a communications professional with experience in mission-driven organizations who can create compelling content, manage multi-channel campaigns, and maintain a polished and consistent brand presence. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the organization's visibility, engagement, and communications strategy while ensuring all messaging is professional, emotionally intelligent, and tailored to Australian audiences.

Schedule:

  • Full-time - Monday to Friday 9 AM to 6 PM Melbourne, VIC

Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute marketing and communications activities across fundraising campaigns, events, organizational updates, and awareness initiatives.
  • Develop engaging content and manage social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Create compelling written communications that align with brand standards and audience expectations.
  • Transform meeting notes, project updates, impact stories, and other source materials into polished marketing content.
  • Maintain communication calendars, templates, and digital marketing assets.

Email Marketing

  • Create, schedule, and manage email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp.
  • Design newsletters, invitations, campaign updates, appeals, and follow-up communications.
  • Manage audience segmentation, campaign setup, reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Recommend improvements based on campaign metrics and engagement.

Content Creation & Brand Management

  • Design professional digital assets using Canva.
  • Produce brochures, presentations, campaign collateral, promotional materials, and event marketing resources.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and visual identity across all communication channels.
  • Support website and landing page content updates as required.

Event Communications

  • Coordinate communication activities for fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Prepare invitations, reminders, RSVP communications, post-event follow-ups, and attendee correspondence.
  • Liaise with vendors, designers, venues, event hosts, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support communication and event execution.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor email marketing and social media performance.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and provide recommendations to improve reach and effectiveness.
  • Utilize AI-powered and digital productivity tools to enhance content development and workflow efficiency.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing, Social Media Management, or a similar role.
  • Experience working within nonprofit, philanthropy, fundraising, healthcare, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Australian communication style, culture, and donor expectations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills with outstanding editing and proofreading abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Mailchimp, including campaign creation, segmentation, automation, and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Canva for creating professional marketing materials. (APPLICATIONS WITH PORTFOLIOS WILL BE PRIORITIZED) 
  • Strong working knowledge of LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Ability to produce engaging, audience-focused, and brand-consistent content.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Sound judgment when handling sensitive subject matter, including healthcare, children, trauma, philanthropy, and community-related communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Australian nonprofit organizations, healthcare, medical research, or community-based organizations.
  • Previous experience supporting fundraising campaigns and donor events.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, CRM platforms, and event management software.
  • Basic video editing and short-form content creation skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve marketing workflows and content production.
