Interior Designer & Procurement Specialist

Our client is seeking a part-time Procurement Specialist to translate design concepts into reality by sourcing specialized interior fixtures, custom metal elements, and architectural finishes. Responsibilities

  • Design Sourcing & Purchasing: Research, evaluate, and purchase architectural metal finishes, custom interior fixtures, and specialized decorative materials based on design specifications and project mood boards.
  • FF&E & Vendor Management: Maintain and expand relationships with design showrooms, fabricators, and specialized artisans. Negotiate pricing, trade discounts, and production timelines.
  • Project Coordination & Quality Control: Coordinate closely with the design/architectural team to forecast material needs, ensuring custom orders match exact design dimensions, finishes, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Order Tracking & Logistics: Issue purchase orders (POs), track custom fabrication lead times, manage delivery logistics to project sites or warehouses, and swiftly resolve any issues with damaged goods or specification discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in procurement or purchasing specifically within the interior design, architectural, or luxury FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) industries. Candidates with purely industrial supply chain backgrounds will not be considered.
  • Design Sensibility: Ability to read architectural drawings, understand design specifications, and recognize high-quality materials and finishes (specifically decorative and architectural metals).
  • Skills: Exceptional negotiation (including securing trade pricing), budget management, and relationship-building skills with boutique vendors and custom fabricators.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with design procurement software (e.g., Ivy, Studio Designer, Houzz Pro) or project management tools, alongside high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Attributes: Highly organized with an obsessive attention to detail, a strong aesthetic eye, and the ability to multitask effectively in a deadline-driven project environment.
