Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Senior General Ledger Accountant (GAAP) to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy across all financial processes. You will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting critical reporting cycles.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM EST (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment scheduling.
• Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and file Sales Tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Lead and execute Month-End Close processes (journal entries, reconciliations, reporting).
• Support Year-End Close, including audit preparation and financial reporting.
• Perform account reconciliations and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience (Senior-level exposure required).
• Strong experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and General Ledger (GL).
• Hands-on experience with Sales Tax preparation.
• Proven experience leading Month-End and Year-End close processes.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (such as GAAP) and financial reporting.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis).
